MetroHealth SPINAL CORD INJURY REHABILITATION AND ADDICTIONS TREATMENT PSYCHOLOGIST in CLEVELAND, Ohio

This unique position is a collaboration between the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and the Psychiatry Department at MetroHealth. We are seeking a Rehabilitation or Health Psychologist with trained in spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation and substance use treatment.

Fifty percent of this position will serve the Department of PM&R, including itsfederally designated SCI Model System, via provision of evidence-based mental health evaluation and psychological treatment for inpatients and outpatients with SCI and other conditions necessitating intensive rehabilitation. The psychologist will be an integral member of the SCI unit interdisciplinary rehabilitation team and work closely with the team to coordinate optimal rehabilitation. The psychologist will provide ambulatory psychological services upon discharge to patients with SCI and other conditions/injuries. They will support inpatient coverage on our other rehabilitation units as needed.

The remaining 50% of the time will serve the Department of Psychiatry via assessment and screening for substance use disorders and providing evidenced based interventions in a team setting for Opioid/Substance Use Disorder Treatments including Medically Assisted Treatment. Academic responsibilities include training of psychology and medical students, psychology interns, PM&R residents, and fellows in psychology and PM&R (SCI, Brain Injury, Pain Medicine). Protected research time is available for qualified candidates. Academic appointment in the departments of PM&R and/or Psychiatry will be commensurate to experience and qualifications.

The psychologist will be joining a growing interdepartmental Division of Psychology at MHS comprised of 30 health services psychologists who serve as faculty for more than 15 doctoral trainees in its APA-accredited internship and its postdoctoral fellowship programs.

Qualified applicants will have a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program and completion of a predoctoral internship in an APA-accredited program; completion of a psychology post-doctoral fellowship in a health care or rehabilitation setting is preferred; current, valid unrestricted licensure to practice as a psychologist in Ohio by start date; eligibility for ABPP certification; training and experience in injury rehabilitation and substance use treatment; experience working with interprofessional medical teams; experience with diverse patient populations; experience in training, program development or collaborative research.
